Some of the world's best dive sites are only accessible by boat. From vibrant offshore reefs and dramatic walls to historic shipwrecks and remote pinnacles, boat diving opens the door to unforgettable underwater adventures.

The PADI Boat Diver Specialty teaches you everything you need to know to become a confident and comfortable boat diver.

Whether you're stepping off a large liveaboard in the Caribbean, rolling off a small dive boat in Florida, or boarding a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) on an international dive trip, you'll learn the skills and etiquette that make every boat dive safe, smooth, and enjoyable.

During two open water training dives, you'll gain hands-on experience with the procedures and techniques used by dive boats around the world.

We will teach you how to:

Prepare and organize your equipment on a dive boat
Enter the water safely using different entry techniques
Perform giant stride and back-roll entries
Conduct safe descents and ascents from a boat
Use tag lines, mooring lines, and descent lines
Deploy a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) when appropriate
Exit the water safely using boat ladders and recovery methods
Understand boat safety procedures and emergency protocols
Communicate effectively with the captain and crew
Practice proper boat etiquette and diver courtesy

Prerequisites

PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another recognized training organization)
Minimum age: 10 years
