Towering walls, dramatic shipwrecks, unique marine life, and breathtaking underwater landscapes often lie beyond the depths explored during your Open Water certification.
 

The PADI Deep Diver Specialty is your gateway to safely exploring depths of up to 40 meters (130 feet)—the maximum depth for recreational scuba diving.

Through hands-on training and expert instruction, you'll gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to plan and conduct deep dives safely while experiencing some of the ocean's most incredible dive sites.

Over four open water training dives, you'll develop the techniques and confidence required for deep diving, including:

  • Planning and conducting safe deep dives

  • Managing gas supply and air consumption at depth

  • Understanding the effects of pressure and nitrogen

  • Recognizing and managing nitrogen narcosis

  • Proper descent and ascent techniques

  • Safety stops and emergency procedures

  • Using dive computers for deep diving

  • Emergency decompression procedures

  • Buoyancy control at greater depths

  • Buddy communication and team awareness

ABOUT THIS COURSE

Prerequisites

  • PADI Adventure Diver certification (or higher), or a qualifying certification from another recognized training organization

  • Minimum age: 15 years
